MTV Video Music Awards: The Best Awards Show Ever

Posted by Hyman Weeks

Do you crave drama and excitement? You're not the only one. My personal life could be described as "quiet" if you're being nice, "dreadfully boring" if you aren't. That's why I love action-packed, dramatic, controversial awards shows. What's my favorite awards show? Without a doubt, it's definitely the MTV Video Music Awards.

The first time I watched the MTV Video Music Awards was way back in 1994, when Michael Jackson was still alive and in a relationship with Lisa Marie Presley. Roseanne Barr was the host (remember her?), and Snoop Dogg was one of the musical guests. Back then, Snoop was still a gangsta rapper and not an auto-tuned pop star wannabe. But enough about that.

I'm pretty sure that nobody will ever forget the show where Britney Spears passionately kissed Madonna and Christina Aguilera. Another memorable moment was back in 2009, when Kanye West interrupted Taylor Swift to rant about how he felt that Beyonce should have won the award for Best Female Video. I have no idea what to expect from the next awards show; pretty much anything could happen. All I know is that I can't wait to watch this year's MTV Video Music Awards on my directstartv.com.

Although I don't like watching awards show all the way from start to finish- I do love to DVR them and watch the entertainers that I love perform! MTV Awards are usually very interesting!

I still remember Michael Jackson doing the moonwalk...getting like 10 awards in one night. I was like 7 or something but I remember staying up late just to watch him. :)
